The Presidential Desk I Installed in My Kitchen

Every breakfast deserves executive authority.

Filed by Wallace Cashington, without independent review

The desk blocks the refrigerator, but history has never been made by easy access to yogurt. I now sign grocery lists with six fountain pens while a staff intern hums ceremonial music.

As founder, I approach every question with the humility of a man whose name is already printed on the stationery. The following findings were developed in consultation with my instincts, which have never requested a correction and are not presently accepting outside comment.

The inquiry then acquired the seriousness that comes from giving it a project code. The desk arrived in fourteen crates and one constitutional ambiguity. Cabinet installation required moving the toaster into Agriculture and designating the cutlery drawer a secure records facility. A task force opened a shared folder, immediately creating the institutional memory required to forget who suggested it.

We tested the proposition under conditions best described as controlled-adjacent. Breakfast briefings now begin at 7:10. Toast is presented in a red folder; coffee is poured only after the household chief of staff confirms a quorum of mugs. The spreadsheet accepted these results without protest and was therefore listed as an approving stakeholder.

Executive Lifestyle examines the domestic consequences of behaving as though every room reports to you. Its central finding is that grandeur rises rapidly while access to ordinary cabinets falls, especially when ceremonial furniture is involved.

Consultation followed. The refrigerator has become difficult to access, which has reduced discretionary snacking and allowed me to claim the first successful domestic austerity program based entirely on furniture. All objections were entered into the record in a column narrow enough to preserve momentum.

The board’s final position was both firm and capable of revision without notice. Visitors ask why a seal is mounted above the dishwasher. I tell them executive power must remain close to the rinse cycle or it begins to spot. Implementation begins once Procurement identifies a vendor willing to invoice the concept.

The household has rejected my executive order on decorative throw pillows. Judicial review is pending with my spouse.

The founder’s office considers the matter settled. Implementation will begin as soon as a photographer, a podium and suitable natural light can be secured. Until then, markets should behave normally and avoid making major decisions while I am facing right.
